Bishop Clinton Carr, Jr.

Meet Our Bishop

Leading the Northern Alabama Diocese with Faith, Vision, and Purpose

Bishop Clinton Carr, Jr. serves as the esteemed leader of the Northern Alabama Diocese (NAD) of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC). His journey in ministry spans over three decades, marked by unwavering dedication and servant leadership.

A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Bishop Carr's spiritual foundation was established at Zion Temple COOLJC in Pratt City, a suburb of Birmingham. In October 1985, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, marking the beginning of his profound commitment to the church. His early roles included serving as a Deacon, church clerk, and superintendent of the local Sunday School. In 1992, he accepted his calling into the ministry, delivering his inaugural sermon titled "Love Lifted Me." By 1995, he was ordained as an Elder and appointed Assistant Pastor. Following the passing of Elder McWallace Williams Jr. in 2001, Elder Carr was appointed Pastor of Zion Temple by Bishop Milton H. Hill.

In the face of challenges, Pastor Carr was asked by the members of Heaven Bound to lead the congregation following the passing of Pastor Elder JT Lemons in July 2014 and the resignation of Pastor Elder Robert Bass in November 2017, and was officially appointed by Apostle Matthew Norwood on December 31, 2017.

Beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Carr is a dedicated scholar. He holds an Associate Degree in Science from Faulkner University; a Bachelor’s Degree from Samford University; Master of Arts degrees from Birmingham Theological Seminary and Grace Christian University; a Doctor of Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian University (awarded April 2017); and a Doctor of Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary (awarded June 2017), graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Then on July 28, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, Bishop Carr was consecrated and was appointed to succeed Apostle Charles Williams as the Bishop of the Northern Alabama Diocese. A passionate preacher, teacher, and community leader, Bishop Carr brings a renewed energy and vision for the Diocese.
